The Fifth Discipline is considered a management classic and in this revised edition, the author draws on fifteen years of experience in putting the central ideas into practice in education, industry and government. The model of leadership presented, with an emphasis on learning rather then authority, was seen as radical in 1990, but offers large organizations a way of seeing the world to encourage growth and adaptability. Senge describes how the fundamental qualities necessary for learning are: aspiration, personal mastery, reflective conversation, dialogue, and understanding complexity.
